Why do you want to invest your hard earn money on animals in Farmville? There are many benefits of investing on animals in the game. But one thing is for sure, investing in Farmville animals is very different compared to investing in crops.

Let’s take cow as an example. It will cost you 400 coins from your coffer to purchase a cow.

What do you do with it? Well, you milk it!

Every time you milk the cow, you can sell it for 6 coins.

That doesn’t seem like a very good investment, does it?

That’s what I thought initially when I started to expand my farm with animals.

If you are planning to buy animals, understand that it is very different compared to plants harvesting. The Return On Investment (ROI) is much slower.

If you were to invest in a cow, it will take you at least 67 times of milking the cow to break even!

But the magic starts after that. From then on, every time you milk the cow, you’ll get 6 coins without any additional costs. Your income is virtually perpetual.

It is sort of like a retirement fund. The income will keep on coming in as long as the cow is healthy.

If you were strapped for cash or you are planning a large investment project, you can even sell the entire cow for a big sum of money. No doubt you would not get all the money you paid of the cow, nonetheless, it is still a large sum of money.

Only do this as the last resort though, you wouldn’t want to sell your “Golden goose”, would you?

If you got the cow as a gift, you have zero investment cost. If you were to sell the cow, all the money is pure profit!

With the animals in Farmville, you can also gain quick experience points from selling the goods they produced such as milk, eggs, wool etc. If you want to level up fast in the game, you can choose this route.

One of your major challenges with animals is housing. You have to make an effort to pen them carefully. Otherwise, they will wander around and get lost causing you to lose all of your investment.

If you are lucky, sometimes stray animal will wander into your farm. You can then practice some loving kindness and give them a shelter to stay warm and comfy.

Animals in Farmville are another fun aspects of the game. In the early stages of the game, the only animal you will have access to is chicken.

When you’ve got yourself up some levels, you will then be able to start raising animals such as cows and sheep. Sometimes I am amazing how the people at Zynga managed to make all the animals look so cute.

If you have not reached a certain level to access the animal you wanted, there is still away you can get your hands on them. To do that, you will need some help from your friends.

If your friends have the animal you wanted in their farm, you can ask for the animal as a gift. Ask them nicely and they may send you some cows and sheep to roam around in your farm.

There are a few animals that you will not be able to have access to in Farmville. A good example is horses. The only way to get horses is to receive them as gifts. Therefore, horses in a farm are considered a prime animal. Take good care of them.

If you are planning to raise animals in your farm, here’s some tip. Animals are not like crops. They cost a lot to raise and yet their product sells for only very little.

Let’s use raising cows as an example. A cow will cost your400 coins to acquire for your farm. The reason you want to have cow is to get the fresh milk.

How much can you sell the milk for? Well, only 6 coins! Doesn’t sound like a good investment, isn’t it?

Cows are meant for long term investment. Every time you do the milking, you don’t have to buy another cow. You have to wait a day or two for the cow to be ready for milking again and you’ll get another 6 coins.

Hence, it will take quite some time to recover your initial investment on animal such as cows. Look at it sort of like your retirement fund. The cows will keep generating 6 coins for the milk you sell.

After some time, you will recoup your investment and the cow will be like a golden goose that keeps on giving and giving milk and yet it will not incur additional cost. Well…until the cow dies of old age though :)
